We are the fattest nation on earth. If you are overweight and wish to achieve your ideal body weight there are a lot of things you can be doing. Check back soon for a list of the things you can do to burn fat. And in the meantime, here are ten tips for how to stop the fat from accumulating:
- Clean out cupboards. You eat what you see. If it is not going to help you lose weight, get it out of the house. If you have it easily available you will likely eat it.
- Drink water. Buy a large water bottle, fill it each day with your recommended 64+ ounces, and make sure you finish it by the end of the day. Also, stop drinking your calories, go to only water.
- Stop eating before 9 pm. When your body slows down, your eating should too.
- Eat at least one salad each day. Get lots of greens, and lots of veggies, but be sure to pair it with some protein so you stay full. Legumes are a great way to add protein to your salads.
- Go fresh. Get as close to fresh as you can. When you have the choice between fresh and frozen, canned, dried, or otherwise, choose fresh and in season.
- Substitute wheat for white. Cut your intake of refined flours and grains, and replace them with whole grains.
- Limit added sugars. Fulfill sweet cravings with fruits. Use natural sweeteners.
- Make your own meals. They are almost always healthier and lower fat than going out. You control the ingredients, so you can make healthy substitutions
- Eat a real breakfast. It kick starts metabolism, helps blood sugar remain level, and keeps you from binge eating later in the day.
- Portion control. Buy smaller dishes, and pay attention to how much you are eating each day, especially when snacking.
