Garlic is one of my favorite things to cook with. It adds so much flavor, and the aroma it leaves in the kitchen…well let’s just say it is not great for my waistline. Lol. Anyway, today’s tip is about choosing the best fresh garlic. I buy the containers of pre-minced garlic for those days when I am in a hurry, but if I am making a special meal, a fresh clove of garlic is always going to taste better.
Here’s what you should consider:
1. The fresher the better. The fresher it is, the sweeter it will be.
2. Look for firm tissue-like skin.
3. No sprouts, not bruises, and not soft or shriveled. If there are sprouts, cut them off, they are bitter tasting and can ruin your meal.
