A freezer to table fruit parfait that perfectly compliments Marie Callender’s pot pies, whether breakfast, or dinner, and makes your life both easy and delicious! Just the way we like it.
We are not the normal 9-5 family. My husband manages a restaurant, I blog, and my four kids are all involved in various activities which means days are usually packed, and family time is not always in the evening. In fact, it rarely is. But we make sure we still get time together.
We often find ourselves enjoying our family time gathered together over breakfast. When we do get to have dinner together, I don’t usually want to spend a long time making something because then I am too tired to enjoy time with the family. Which is why I usually do freezer meals, or slow cooker meals. But another option I truly love are Marie Callender’s pies. Marie Callender’s tastes like homemade, but without the elbow grease usually required for pot pie!
With the busy holiday season I seem to have less and less time to actually cook, so on one of those rare nights my husband was home, I pulled out the family size Chicken Pot Pie to serve the masses. It has homemade gravy, lots of veggies, and all white meat chicken, so while it is comfort food at its finest, I also feel good about letting my family eat it. Plus, I just love the golden flaky crust.
I wanted to serve a side, but again, wasn’t super interested in spending tons of time on something, after all, the hubs was home, and I just wanted to bask in his company. When I opened my freezer to pull out the pot pie there were bags of frozen fruit that I usually use in my morning smoothies right there next to it. Inspiration struck! I thought my kids would love a parfait made from the fruit, and that it would perfectly compliment the Chicken Pot Pie.
I was right! It was a real hit with my kids, who loved the frozen aspect as much as the flavor, and a real hit with me because it took mere minutes to put together, and again, was something I could feel good about feeding my kids.
All I had to do was layer a few of their favorite frozen fruits, which I picked up in Walmart right by where I picked up the pot pie. Then for fun I topped it with some homemade whipped cream! Eazy Peazy!
If you are anything like me, chances are you don’t want to compromise the quality of your meal just because you don’t want to spend a lot of time. So whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, might I suggest Marie Callender’s pot pies?
It used to be you could only get dinner pot pies, but now they offer breakfast options, as well as individual and family size pot pies. Since breakfast tends to be the meal we most often eat together, I was thrilled about this.
