I love Kapaa as well, a great place to stay. Oh that can be tricky, but I would say start by using sites like SkyScanner.com to find the best deals. Sign up for alerts for when flight prices for the destination you want drops below a certain amount. And follow some of the airline deal Instagram accounts etc. so you can see those deals and hop on them when they come. You could also use credit card rewards (I have a post on how to travel for free using rewards), you could sign up for an airline card that gives you a free companion ticket, which would make that cost half.
