Today I am going to share some of my favorite drink recipes and ways to use drink mixes to keep kids hydrated in a fun, low-calorie way.
Proper hydration is so important, and not just during the hot months of summer, but all year round. Proper hydration means a healthy heart, more energy, better muscles and joint function, and keeps the body at the proper temperature. Plus so much more!
Keeping kids hydrated shouldn’t be too hard. Right?
I have the cutest little daughter in the world. In my world anyway. One of my the things she does is give her favorite things her own names. She is just starting to really talk a lot, and I love everything she says.
She always wakes up thirsty, and loves to ask her dad for a “bah”! Hot chocolate is one of her favorites but in the mornings that is way too much to say, so she just calls it “coke!” She also loves juice, but really struggles with the word so she calls it “tea”. Haha! Apparently that is easier.
She loves her drinks, and she is not alone, all of my kids are happy to have a drink, but they want hot chocolate, soda, and other sugary drinks. The trick isn’t so much about getting them to drink something, but rather to drink things I can feel good about. Honestly I am not much better. Plain old water would be great, but my kids love flavor! I don’t blame them. So I find the balance of keeping the drinks fun and low calorie (for me and them) with Crystal Light Drink Mixes.
Here’s 3 ways I use Crystal Light to enhance water in an easy and convenient way so my kids will want to hydrate!
#1- The Crystal Light Slush
This is such a fun way to start the day. I filled my individual sized blender jar with ice, filled it ¾ the way with water, and squirted in a little Crystal Light Tropical Coconut liquid. Then blend until you have a great slush! It was so yummy. I kind of felt like I was having a treat with my breakfast!
Garnish with coconut flakes and a fun straw!
#2- The Lunchbox Lemonade Love
The second way I encourage my children to stay hydrated is to add a Crystal Light On The Go Lemonade packet to their lunch box water bottle. I just tape it to the outside, and then they can add it and shake for some lunchtime fun and flavor!
#3- The Fruited Water Bar
This is my favorite way to keep my kids hydrating because it involves letting them make good choices. I created a fruited water bar to serve with dinner. To do this simply fill each person’s glass with water, and provide a variety of fruits and Crystal Light liquid drink mixes, then let the kids make their own combination!
It is easy to keep kids hydrated when you make it fun and add rock star flavors like those found in Crystal Light drink mixes. And speaking of rockstars, Crystal Light is sponsoring the Miranda Lambert Platinum tour and rewarding its customers with an exclusive #PlatinumPoints Sweepstakes.
How it works is you earn rewards by purchasing Crystal Light products! At the end of the program, one winner will be randomly selected. All purchases must be made by December 31, 2014, receipts submissions must be submitted by November 15, 2014, and points redemptions must be submitted by January 15, 2015. See Official Rules for details.
So basically, do what I did, and head to Walmart, pick up some Crystal Light and use your receipt to cash in and get Miranda Lambert rewards like song downloads, guitars, etc.
Isn’t it great to get rewarded for making tasty and convenient hydration choices?! I think yes! So now I want to know, what do you do to keep your kids hydrated?
