Honey Asian Chicken

Asian Honey Chicken is easy to make, and incredibly delicious. Crunchy chicken, and a sweet heat Asian honey sauce make this a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil for frying chicken
  • 1/2 cup roasted cashews
  • 2 green onions chopped fine

Sauce

  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tbs soy sauce
  • 1 Tbs fresh ginger
  • 1 Tbs apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbs water
  • 1 Tbs Corn starch

Instructions

  • Mix together half and half and egg in a shallow dish
  • Salt and pepper chicken, then dip in egg mixture
  • Put flour in a gallon sized bag, and add chicken dipped in egg mixture into the bag, give it a shake to coat the chicken thoroughly
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add chicken in batches so each piece has room to cook, and fry 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown
  • When done, remove chicken and place on a cooling rack with a paper towel under it to catch the excess oil. This will keep the chicken from getting soggy while you finish your sauce
  • Meanwhile, prepare sauce by in a small bowl mixing together the water and cornstarch and set aside
  • Then in a medium size sauce pan, add the honey, sesame oil, ginger, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and crushed red peppers, stir, and bring to a boil on medium-high heat.
  • Once boiled, reduce heat to low, stir in cornstarch and water mixture, and let simmer until chicken is ready
  • Remove sauce from heat, stir in cashews, the sauce should be thick and syrupy at this point, if it is not, cook a little longer.
  • Toss chicken in sauce, garnish with green onions, and serve immediately, it is great over rice!
