Vanilla Chai Scones

Sweet and spiced scones, these vanilla chai scones offer subtle flavors and are absolutely delicious.

  • 4 Cups Flour
  • 1.5 Tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 8 TBS 1/2 cup or 1 cube Butter, slightly cold and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 Bags Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • Heat milk and steep bags of tea in it for 10 minutes
  • 2 Eggs

Egg Wash

  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1 tsp Water

Vanilla Glaze Drizzle (totally optional!)

  • 4 Tablespoons Powder Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Dash of Salt


  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a mixing bowl, with a stand mixer, mix all dry ingredients.
  • Add cubes of Butter.
  • Let dry ingredients and butter mix together until mixture has turned into large sand-like chunks.
  • Add your 1 cup of steeped milk tea and two eggs.
  • Let mix on Medium speed for 3 minutes.
  • (At this point you can add any fruit you would like and mix for 30 more seconds, or leave them plain.)
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough until it is approximately 1-1.5 inches in height.
  • Cut dough into your desired shape and place on a silicone baking mat lined baking sheet smooth side up.
  • Make egg wash by combining egg and water, and mixing with a fork.
  • Brush tops of scones with egg wash.
  • Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-40 minutes or until Scones are lightly browned on the bottom.
  • Remove from oven and let rest 5-10 minutes,
  • Meanwhile, mix together vanilla glaze by using a hand mixer to beat ingredients together, then drizzle over scones (optional)
  • Can be stored in an airtight container and retain freshness for up to 3 days.
