Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta, and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain.
In a large skillet, brown onion, garlic, italian sausage and ground beef over medium heat. Add all the sauce ingredients, stir well, and simmer 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Add ¾ of the sauce to the ziti and stir to coat it well.
Stir the sour cream and ricotta together
Layer: 1/2 of the ziti, Provolone cheese, sour cream/ricotta mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese and remaining sauce mixture. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil.
Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, then remove foil and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheeses are melted.
