Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Generously grease and flour a bundt pan.
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, butter, and shortening using an electric mixer. Beat together until creamy and smooth.
Add eggs, 1 at a time, to the mixing bowl, mixing well after each addition.
Stir flour, 1 cup at a time, into the mixing bowl, mixing well after each addition, until batter is smooth and without lumps. But do not over mix.
Stir in lemon extract, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
Pouring slowly, while mixing, gradually mix lemon-lime beverage into batter and stop once incorporated. Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan.
Bake in preheated 325 F. degree oven for 75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean
Remove cake from pan immediately so it does not stick. And place on a cooling rack.
Cool and serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar!
