Mark's Homemade Tortillas

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4- 1 1/2 Boiling water


  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Add in the 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • Stir it all together until evenly distributed.
  • Add boiling water to achieve a good texture. Should be slightly sticky, but not so it sticks all over your hands. It should be soft, but not sticky. Have it stick to the table or counter, but not to your hands.
  • Knead well.
  • Separate dough into golf ball sized pieces.
  • Roll out on unfloured surface.
  • Roll very thin.
  • Preheat a shallow skillet or pancake griddle.
  • Cook on one side, flip and cook on other side, until slightly browned.
