Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 2-3 racks pork ribs baby back or spare ribs
  • 2 tablespoons salt and pepper mix
  • 3 tablespoons BBQ rub seasoning mix store-bought or homemade mix
  • 1-2 cups BBQ sauce your favorite brand or homemade

Instructions

Prep the ribs:

  • Start by removing the silver skin from the back of each rack of ribs, use a paper towel to get leverage to pull that membrane off.

Season generously:

  • Pat the ribs dry with paper towels, and generously season both sides of the ribs with the salt and pepper mix and the BBQ rub.

Layer in the slow cooker:

  • Cut the racks in half so they fit in the slow cooker better, then lay them in, and layer them with BBQ sauce between each layer.

Cook low and slow:

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours, until ribs are tender and easily pull apart with a fork. The bones should fall right out.

Finish with sauce:

  • Remove the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush with more BBQ sauce and broil for 3-5 minutes, or until the sauce caramelizes and isn’t burnt.

Serve and enjoy:

  • Slice and serve with extra BBQ sauce.
