An easy to make, flavorful, and family friendly overnight french toast casserole. So good it almost tastes like dessert!
Are you guys excited for the upcoming holidays? I know I am. I love all the baking, the parties, the time spent with family and friends. And I love the anticipation my children feel, and the traditions.
Often our family holiday traditions have to do with food. Like we bake cookies at Christmas, we make Witches Brew punch at Halloween, and we eat breakfast as a family on Thanksgiving. I love those holiday cooking traditions, and the fun they bring.
One of our traditions is having breakfast on Thanksgiving. This helps keep the kids satisfied before the big meal, and gets them out of the kitchen so I can cook. But who wants to prepare and clean up a big breakfast when they have a huge spread to get ready? Not me! Which is where this awesome Overnight French Toast Casserole comes in. It is super easy to make. You do all the prep work the night before. Bake it in the morning, and enjoy. There is only one pan to wash the day of, which comes clean easily if you use PAM Cooking Spray. And the whole meal is super delicious and satisfying.
To make Get your ingredients out and ready, the egg mixture, the bread, the PAM Cooking Spray, and a glass 9 x 13 casserole dish. I like using PAM Cooking Spray because it doesn’t leave that gross residue on your glass dishes after you wash them. In fact, one study showed PAM Cooking Spray leaves *99% less residue than margarine or bargain-brand cooking sprays, so your dishes will turn out great and you’ll spend less time cleaning up! I call that a real win.
Then cut the bread into even sized cubes, and spray the dish with the PAM Cooking Spray.
Fill the dish with the cubed bread. It should fill the whole thing. It will seem pretty full, but don’t worry. Once you pour the egg mixture over, it will sink down a little. Then whisk together the egg mixture.
And pour it over the top of the bread.
I like to give it a stir at this point to make sure each piece of the bread gets well coated with the egg mixture. Once you have done that, just cover it with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge overnight. You will mix up the topping too, and just put it in a baggie and stick it in the fridge with the casserole dish.
Then the next morning, preheat your oven, slice up a couple peaches and put them on top, sprinkle the crumb mixture over it all, and bake!
Then enjoy!
