Chocolate Dipped Fruit Cones are sugar cones dipped in chocolate and filled with fresh fruit then served with a light, fluffy, refreshing cheesecake fruit dip. This is the perfect summer treat and so fun for a birthday party!
In case you aren’t sick of hearing about it yet, we just moved. And that means our life is chaos. We are doing a light remodel in the house we are living in, which makes things even more chaotic.
Well, my husband just had a birthday. Fortunately, despite traveling constantly for work, he was home. But unfortunately, for him, there was a lot of unpacking, organizing, and cleaning to do, so he had to have an adult birthday. You know what I am talking about…one of those birthdays that are not really that much fun because you have real life responsibilities. I wish I could just cancel real life for the day, but that isn’t really how things work.
Just because real life reared its ugly head didn’t mean we couldn’t celebrate! I picked up a great American Greetings birthday card at Walmart and planned a little get together with a few close friends. One of our friends’ birthday is a couple days after my husband’s so while I got a card for my hubby, I picked one up for her too. I had so much fun looking through all the cards. I got a fairly traditional one for my husband, and inscribed a few words of my undying love inside. But for my friend, I had to go with comical. I got this cat card. When you open it, the card sings you a Happy Birthday song in “cat” with lots of meows thrown in. It was hilarious!
Anyway, once I picked out my cards, my mind was at ease, and I could plan the party. We partied at the pool with some great food. One of the things we ate was fruit dipped in a cheesecake fruit dip. And boy was it ever good.
Whenever we swim, everyone gets ravenous, so I knew I would need a lot of food and a lot of options. I also knew I wanted to keep the food light, fresh, and tasty, so I went with our favorite summer fare of fresh fruits, fresh veggies, and cold cuts. I bought a lot of fruit, so when I got home, after the pool, I decided to make something really fun and festive, and so I made Ice Cream Cones, dipped in chocolate, and filled with fruit, then topped with that delicious cheesecake fruit dip! Uh hello amazing.
You guys, these are so easy to make, but they taste awesome and are so fun, and they are served with this light, fluffy, cheesecake fruit dip. Delicious! Everyone seriously loved the cones, and the kids loved that they were individually portioned.
To make the cones even more fun and festive, I decorated the tables with a roll of American Greetings gift wrapping paper, and used it like a tablecloth. It was perfect, festive, fun, and made for easy clean up! I also grabbed gift bags and tissue paper for the presents. And used them as the centerpieces. I like to keep things simple.
It was a great celebration! And what I particularly loved was that it was not super complicated.
The food was easy. Decorating was easy. Expressing my sentiments with the perfect birthday card was easy. Wishing my friend a comical and fun birthday was also easy! Everything was fun and simple, leaving me plenty of energy to just enjoy my family and celebrate the birth of my other half.
To make some of these amazing chocolate dipped fruit cones, do the following:
Just heat chocolate in the microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring between, and repeat until melted. Usually this takes less than a minute. Then dip your cones on in!
Lay your dipped cones on parchment paper and either stick them in the fridge or freezer to allow the chocolate to set up. It is summer, so it is hotter. But if your home is cool enough, the chocolate will firm up without being put in the fridge, this just speeds things along.
While the dipped cones are setting up, it is time to cut up the fruit. You can use whatever fruit you like best. I used a wide variety including mangos, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, kiwi, apple, grapes, and cherries. But pick whatever is in season, or whatever you prefer, and dice the fruit rather small so it will fit into the cone.
Now check your cones, and if they are set up, it is time to fill them! If you make the cheesecake fruit dip, which I highly recommend you do as it is amazing, then you could also top the fruit with the dip. This makes it appear even more like an ice cream cone.
Then you just need to eat and enjoy! I like to add additional fruit dip as I go because it is just that good.

This would be fun to do because my son can do this without my help. He’s always wanted to do stuff all by himself, and this would be a perfect example of a way to do that!

My family & I use regular cones, dipped half-way in melted chocolate. We use butterscotch instant pudding mix instead of the cheesecake mix in the Fruit Dip. We set out Mason jars with assorted fresh fruits, chopped nuts, diced avocado, small cubes of assorted cheeses and cooked, cubed chicken. Use small or medium size tongs for serving. Everyone grabs a cone and fills it with their favorites. We put some of the dip on top & garnish with small basil leaves. This makes a lovely brunch served with extra dip. Yummy!! Bookmarked!

Thanks! It was a huge hit over here.

I really like this idea. Can you make it like a day before? Or will the cone get to chewy?
Rachael says
You could mix everything up the day before, but the cone will get soggy if you fill it the day before.
