Thank you House Foods for sponsoring this post and keeping content free for my readers!
The Dirty Monkey is a protein packed chocolate and peanut butter shake that is creamy enough to be a milkshake, and healthy enough to eat for breakfast!
This smoothie is dairy free but literally tastes like a chocolate milkshake! It is so good. And what is more, it is good for you. I have been fooling my picky eater with this “milkshake” for a week now, giving it to him at breakfast, and he is in heaven thinking he is being spoiled when really he is getting a protein packed, healthy start to the day.
I am so proud!
This is how he gets it, with a little chocolate sauce drizzled on top and some chopped up peanuts. But when I want to use it for dessert I give it a little more chocolate drizzle down the sides of the cup, like we are at a fancy shake shoppe (notice the extra “p” and “e” that is how I get fancy!)
But let’s talk about why this is so amazing for a minute, besides the flavor you have 3 sources of protein! Three! The soy milk, the peanut butter, and the tofu!
April is National Soyfoods Month, so I thought a soy based protein drink would be the perfect thing to share today! Did you know that soy has no cholesterol, has very little saturated fat, and contains high quality plant-based protein? The House Foods Tofu, and all it provides, is so key to why I love this smoothie.
According to the House Foods website, “Soy’s been proven more environmentally sustainable than other major protein sources in terms of use of water and other resources.” Why does protein matter? Protein acts as building blocks for bones, cartilage, skin, muscle, and blood.
Kids need it before school in the mornings to stimulate an active and healthy brain. It improves brain function. You may remember my picky eater has been struggling in school, and changing his diet has helped a ton!
In addition to all the health benefits, the tofu makes my smoothies so creamy and delicious. It makes what would have been an icy smoothie, into a creamy milkshake consistency. Ah-Maze-Ing! I am telling you. Lactose free, but you’d never know!
Let’s celebrate National Soyfoods Month together with House Foods Tofu and this “Dirty monkey” shake!

Sounds delicious. Love the name too. I’ll try it. I’m taking a little break from desserts/bread and trying to get plenty of lean protein.
