This turtle poke cake has a little something extra too it…toffee bits. I needed something extra. I just did. Why? School is out! I am both thrilled and terrified! Hahaha I think most parents understand those feelings. So happy to be off the schedule, and have a little freedom, some quality time with kids that doesn’t involve harping on them about homework. But then I am also terrified. Terrified of having to keep kids entertained, fed, and getting along all day every day while they are home.
Regardless, we are celebrating the last day of school and the kick off of summer by letting the kids stay up late for a movie night, with plenty of fun snacks to keep everyone satisfied, and this chocolaty, caramel filled decadent cake. Because what is a party without cake?
My kids have been dying to watch the movie “Daddy’s Home” and so we used our Walmart Family Mobile PLUS perk of a free movie on VUDU to get a new release rental and watch and stream through our Roku!
Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan features Unlimited Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE data PLUS a free movie on VUDU (new release rental $7 value) every month per line for $49.88 and 19.98* for the starter kit.
I cash in on that 10 GB of 4G LTE data constantly while using my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, working on the go, sending photos to my sisters, and “snapping” the gorgeous pics I get from that great camera, and now I am going to leverage that movie rental too. This tasty cake is a great way to celebrate, and like the Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan it is easy, a great value, and offers something fun and unique for families. Great for a family movie night, snuggles on the couch, and a festive party mood.
You already know I love Walmart Family Mobile because it is an inexpensive way for me to not just work on the go, but also keep tabs on my kids, and not pay through the nose for a phone. And, since Family Mobile bills you later, you only have to pay $19.88 when you sign up, as the cost of the starter kit.*
But enough about that, let’s talk about this cake. It was the perfect way to celebrate school being out. It was tasty and yummy, but was easy to throw together, and did not require much exertion from me.
I grabbed a boxed chocolate cake mix while I was shopping at Walmart, and a big jar of salted caramel sauce. Then I made stabilized whipped cream frosting. It is so much easier to make then you would think. I used my blender and it took mere seconds. Then I just shaved some chocolate, drizzled on some extra caramel, and chopped up pecans and sprinkled on toffee! Easy as pie. But it is cake. Amazing, decadent, chocolate and caramel filled turtle poke cake!
So whether you are celebrating school being out, or a big milestone being reached, a birthday, or just everyday fun, give this turtle poke cake a try! You won’t be disappointed.
I mean just look at this poke cake! The perfect celebration food.
Family Movie Nights will never be the same now that you have easy turtle poke cake! I hope your summer is eventful, fun, and that you take advantage of the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan with VUDU movie rental.
