Our favorite dipping sauce, a quick, easy, and oh so tasty “fry sauce” perfect for dipping nuggets, fries, and more!
You guys, I was at Walmart and picked up these totally cute Tyson® Fun Nuggets for the little miss while the “bigs” are at school all day, and we can’t seem to eat them without dipping them, so today I thought I would share our favorite dip. We call it “fry sauce” which is a Utah classic.
It is like a state treasure over here, though truthfully, there is not that much to it, and a lot of other places have caught on. But you guys, this is my favorite version. Lots of people make it with just mayo and ketchup, and maybe a spice or two. Some people add vinegar to get that tangy flavor. But I use a nice combo and a little secret ingredient.
Make it, you’ll love it. And you will want to dip everything in it.
But first… a funny story.
So, we had the first day of school this week. I got up early. I made my kids a healthy, protein packed breakfast to set them up for a successful school day. I helped them pack a home lunch. I curled my daughter’s hair. Me! Yup! You guys, I was determined to be super mom this school year. No reading minute left unread, or homework folder left unsigned, kind of mom. Basically, not the typical me.
I got my kids to school early. Kissed them goodbye. Oh, I even remembered to take back to school pictures. Huge win for me!
Then I dropped the little one at a sitter, and got to work. I am trying to only work while my kids are at school so that when they are home I can spend time with them. So I drilled down. I cooked, I shot photos, I wrote posts. I did social shares. Oh yeah, and I MISSED the fact that is was early out day at school!
Yep, mom of the year here! 40 minutes after school was out, my daughter calls to politely inquire if I was planning to pick them up today. Of course, I missed her call, and so listened to her super sweet and timid voicemail. #settingexpectations
Feeling just awful that I left them hanging on the FIRST day of school, I quickly called the school back. And guess who answered? The Principal! After getting over my initial embarrassment, I explained that I had not realized it was early out day, and that I was on my way. I asked if he saw my kids if he would tell them. Instead of brushing me off as just another air headed parent, he asked me where they might be, and then went out of his way to find them and let them know I was coming.
You guys, we have the BEST principal! I am sure I am not the only parent who thinks their kid’s school is great! Last year we had the opportunity to host an international teaching intern who worked at our school, and so I got the chance to work more closely with the school staff and get to know the Principal better.
I am so impressed by everything they do for our kids! I realize it is their “job” but they go above and beyond continually. And for that I am grateful.
Grateful enough I may just bring the staff at the school a big old bottle of this tasty “Fry Sauce” and nominate for the Tyson Project A+™ contest.
Yesterday I shared this awesome Chicken Strip Parmesan recipe, using Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips, and told you guys about the Tyson Project A+™ program that is one of the simplest ways to help support your school financially.
Today I wanted to tell you about another awesome thing about the Tyson Project A+™! The contest! They are letting you nominate a school, and tell why you think they deserve a head start on collecting Tyson Project A+™ labels. The school with the most nominations will receive a packet of labels worth $1,000.
Of course, I had to nominate my kid’s school! I was worried it might be a big, laborious process, but it takes about 30 seconds, and is so easy. So if your child’s school deserves some accolades, go nominate them at Walmart.com/ProjectA+
Then head to your kitchen and make this sauce. And some Tyson® Fun Nuggets, Tyson® Chicken Nuggets, or Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips and fries to dip in it! They are 100% natural ingredients, simple to make, and nice and crispy on the outside, perfect for dipping in the fry sauce. Or you could just eat it with a spoon. Whatev’s!
