Garlic Green Beans:
Simple green beans with butter and garlic, they have so much flavor. These french green beans make an easy side dish, perfect for Thanksgiving.
You know how some foods are best when you just let them be? Like in their natural state? Well that is the case with these green beans. They do not need much to be a really tasty side. And
My neighbor calls these squeeky beans. We love them. My kids will eat them, and I have found that they are a great snack. You can dress them up with pine nuts, or lemon. But I like to keep them simple.
When I was Googling green beans, one of the questions I saw was “How do you make green beans taste good?” This made me laugh so hard. But don’t worry, I will answer that question.
How do you make green beans taste good?
There are a number of answers. Some say to wrap them in bacon like the beans found here: Bacon Wrapped Green Bean Bundles with Mushroom Gravy
You could smother them in something, mix them with something, etc. But I think the real key to making green beans taste good is to use fresh green beans. Canned beans just aren’t nearly as good. So go fresh.
Add butter…butter makes everything better. And garlic. In other words, just make these. You will love them. They taste great.
How do you cook fresh green beans?
- Boil- This is one of the easiest ways, but also a way to lose a lot of flavor. When you can cook fresh green beans another way, do!
- Roast- Roasted vegetables are always going to be amazing. Roasting brings out some natural sweetness, and adds depth of flavor.
- Saute- This is my personal favorite. I just think it is the best way to get the perfect amount of tenderness versus crispness.
How do you saute green beans?
Start with some butter and garlic, then, in order to soften the beans up a bit, you can add some water, then let the water cook down. Some would say this is steaming them, but I like to call it the lazy saute. Trust me, it tastes awesome, and is quick and easy. Some of my favorite words to string together.
