Sweet cream French toast food art for Father’s Day! These French toast cars are a fun breakfast in bed the whole family will enjoy making! And they taste great!

French toast cars HERO

My kids absolutely love helping in the kitchen. The problem is, most of the time, I don’t want to deal with the messes, and am on a ticking clock. But after repeated requests from my daughter to “help” I’ve decided I need to let me kids take a more active roll in the kitchen and with cooking. So they get to help with one meal each, each week.

So scary. Wish me luck.

I thought a great place to start would be this fun food art project for a themed breakfast in bed. Father’s Day is never very exciting for my poor husband, and father to my 4 kids. The reason being he usually has to work.

He is a restaurant manager, at a steak house. And people tend to take their dads out for Father’s Day, and usually for steak. So needless to say, it is a busy day, and we don’t see him much.

This year, we wanted to make sure he really felt how much we loved him, and since we knew he’d be spending a big part of his day commuting to and from work, the kids and I decided we were going to clean his car, give it a full at home detail, and then surprise him with a “car” for breakfast made from french toast!

With-bucketLet me tell you, I have never seen my kids so excited about cleaning before. We went to Walmart and bought the Armor All Car Care Gift Pack 10-Piece Bucket, which comes with everything you need for an at-home detail at a great value.

We started with a nice wash of the exterior using the included sponge and Armor All Wash & Wax. The kids put on their swim suits, and we had fun! Then we did the interior. We cleaned it out. Vacuumed it. Then used the Armor All® Protectant Wipes to clean the dash, and all the other fun products, like glass wipes and this Quicksilver Wheel and Tire Cleaner to really make it shine.

French-Toast-Car-Recipe-2I am sure that when he gets in to drive to work on Father’s Day he is going to feel all the love and effort that was put into this little surprise. And the best part, this is a gift that he will get to enjoy not just on Father’s Day, but each time he drives.

I am sure my husband is not the only Father that will love this give, and while it is already a great value, there is a $2.00 off coupon available for the Armor All Car Care Gift Pack 10-Piece Bucket at Walmart, while supplies last, making it an even better gift idea! Click here to get the coupon.

He is such a good dad, and as we won’t be seeing much of him, and can’t spoil him all day, a breakfast in bed was a must.

These French toast cars were so fun to make and pretty easy too. Plus, I used my favorite French toast recipe (below), so not only was it darling, but also super tasty!

Because my kids and Husband both love the movie Cars we made a race car and one of those pit crew cars that helps change tires. It was so fun!

Here’s how easy it was to make so you can make it at home for your Father’s Day celebration:

You need 5 pieces Texas Toast, dipped in batter and cooked; 4 chocolate covered mini doughnuts; a piece of Fruit Leather; and toothpicks. I created a photo tutorial for you!

Step 1step 2

Step 3Step 4Step 5The pit crew car was just as easy!
