With these two products you get fast, healthy, and delicious without even turning on your oven! How cool is that?
Guys, it is summer, which means two things around here: it is too hot to cook, and my kids are out of school so my days are VERY full. I neither have the time nor inclination to do a bunch of cooking over a hot stove in the kitchen, but with these pitas I don’t have to. I just went to Walmart and picked up everything I needed then used my microwave.
Everybody is short on time. And often dinner rolls around and we are just pulling in from the pool, or the park, and I have nothing defrosted, and haven’t shopped in days, so we skip nutrition for convenience and order a pizza, or eat cold cereal. Please tell me I am not alone in this. So I have been looking for ways to combat this with quick and easy meals that I can keep the staples for on hand, and pull out to prepare dinner or lunch in minutes. And this is my solution!!!
I love that Birds Eye Steamfresh® Protein Blends and Tyson® Grilled & Ready® Chicken Breast Fillets can be kept in my freezer. And because both of these products are prepared in the microwave it makes dinner eazy peazy, just the way we like it! Seriously, the chicken takes about 3-4 minutes to prepare in the microwave as it is already fully cooked and has great grilled taste, and the veggies only take about 5 minutes. Then all you have to do is assemble your pita the way you like it. Even my kids can make these pitas, which means this mama is extra happy because I can assign dinner prep jobs to the littles while I rinse off that chlorine!
Plus look at those beautiful veggies? And did I mention this pita is protein packed? It totally is, and not just because of the chicken. The Asian Style Birds Eye Steamfresh® Protein Blend is also packed with protein, hence the name “protein blend” but so is the spinach, and the hummus. I can’t get my kids to eat hummus. I wish I could. I love it and usually have some on hand. I dip my veggies in it. But it is brown, so they usually won’t touch it. But I use it as the spread to add some moisture to these pitas, and they don’t even notice!
You could make your own hummus if you want, but I usually buy it to add to the simplicity factor of this microwave prepped meal. Anyway, after I spread it on, I just pack the pita with all that other good stuff and I have a protein filled meal for my kids that is light enough to enjoy after a full day, tastes good, and is nutritious too! And for those with picky eaters, this is great because the pitas can be customized to preference. Win-win.

10 Minute Grilled Chicken Protein Pitas
- 4 Tyson® Grilled & Ready® Chicken Breast Fillets
- 1 Package Birds Eye Steamfresh® Protein Blends Asian Style
- 1 cup spinach leaves washed
- 1/2 cup prepared hummus
- 4 Pita pockets also called salad pockets
- Heat chicken in microwave according to package directions. Then cut into pieces
- Heat protein blend veggies in microwave according to package directions.
- Spread hummus on the inside of each pita
- Fill with chicken, spinach, and veggie blend
- Eat immediately and enjoy!
