Hi, I’m Lorena and I blog over at Green Healthy Cooking. I’m so very grateful that Rachael is having me over on Eazy Peazy Mealz to guest post a couple of times in the following months. I absolutely adore her blog, and her recipes – believe it or not – are a great inspiration not only for you but also for me, a food blogger!!
Today, I brought an Easy Strawberry Banana Milkshake over to Eazy Peazy Mealz becauseI don’t know about you but I am always on the lookout for healthy and delicious snack recipes that will please both my palate AND my kids’. What I love about this milkshake in particular is that it is choked full of fruits and protein and thanks to the sweet banana doesn’t require any sweetener at all. Besides, it’s a great refreshment for the sporadic warm spring days we’ve had so far.
The most important, in order to avoid sweeteners and a starchy taste is to have fairly ripe bananas and fairly ripe strawberries. I’m not talking about super black, almost fermenting bananas or mould covered strawberries, but surely brown spotted ones and strawberries which’s green tops are just starting to wilt. My kids stop liking bananas and strawberries when they start having mushy spots and that’s when they become perfect for smoothies and milkshakes.
Since the fruit for this milkshake is very soft and the almonds are already peeled and sliced and thus soft you don’t even need a fancy blender. Any cheap one will do the job, you just have to blend long enough to get it to the right consistency. If you happen to have a high-speed blender, lucky you, it’s going to take you about 0.01 seconds to whip this up. For more refreshing sugar-free and alcohol-free drink recipes of mine, head on over to the Drink category on my website or go check out Rachael’s Drinks category right here on Eazy Peazy Mealz, I’m sure you’ll find A LOT of inspiration!
