Hummus Appetizer Flight

Maple pecan, pumpkin seed, pumpkin spice, and sage and thyme topped Sabra hummus make the perfect flight of hummus appetizers for your holiday parties.

This appetizer is the perfect Fall appetizer and ideal for starting off your Friendsgiving. Yes, the juicy roast turkey, and the creamy mashed potatoes, the soft and fluffy dinner rolls, and easy stuffing are important, and the parts of the meal people really think about.

But… the appetizers set the stage and the mood for your meal, so why not set it perfectly with a flight of seasonally topped hummus dips and your favorite dippers?

Whether you want an unforgettable Friendsgiving, or just want to have a quiet, but insanely tasty dinner at home, complete with fantastic appetizer, this hummus appetizer flight is the perfect way to please a crowd.

Hummus fits great in a Friendsgiving men! With rich fall flavors, fun dippers, and the classic creamy flavors you expect from Sabra, this appetizer flight of three different hummus flavors and toppers is the perfect way to keep everyone happy, and stomachs full.

How to Make this Hummus Appetizer Flight

This fun hummus appetizer flight is such a great way to start off your Friendsgiving meal, so let’s talk about what you need to know to make it awesome:

  1. Start with the best hummus. SABRA! Sabra hummus is creamy, delicious, and totally accessible. All Sabra products are certified kosher and vegetarian. And you can find Sabra all over the US.
  2. Add in your fall flavors! For this fun flight I used maple and pecan, pumpkin spice and pumpkin seed, and of course sage and thyme. Delicious!
  3. Pair it with the best dippers! Apples are iconic fall fruit that goes well with hummus. Pitas and baguettes are also excellent for these fall flavors.

Now let’s talk about each type of hummus individually.

Pumpkin Spice Hummus

  • 1 package Classic Sabra Hummus
  • 1 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice

Combine Sabra hummus with pumpkin pie spice and stir until combined. Garnish with a sprinkling of Pumpkin Pie Spice

  • Dip with fresh apples, baguette, pita bread, or crackers

Maple Pecan

  • 1 package classic Sabra Hummus
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup

Combine Sabra hummus with maple syrup and stir until combined. Garnish with ½ tsp maple syrup and chopped pecans

  • Dip with fresh apples, baguette, pita bread, or crackers

Pumpkin Seeds

  • 1 package classic Sabra Hummus
  • ¼ cup Pumpkin seeds or pepitas
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp olive oil

For this one, you need to do a little more work, simply preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

Place pumpkin seeds in a small baking dish.

Top seeds with chili powder, salt, garlic salt, and olive oil.

Mix until seeds are fully coated and roast in oven for 5 minutes.

Cool and use as a garnish on classic Sabra Hummus.

  • Dip with baguette, pita bread, savory pita chips or crackers

Sage & Thyme

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
    • If you don’t have poultry seasoning, you can use ½ tsp ground sage and ½ tsp ground thyme instead
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Dip with baguette, pita bread, savory pita chips or crackers

Combine Sabra hummus with fresh thyme, poultry seasoning, and salt and stir until combined. Garnish with fresh thyme and fresh sage leaves

Easy Dippers used in recipes

What chips to eat with hummus? Is hummus a good veggie dip? If you have ever wondered what you can eat with hummus, here is your answer: Whatever sounds good to you. A few suggestions for these fall inspired hummus appetizers:

  • Fresh apples
  • Baguette
  • Pita bread
  • Crackers

What is Hummus commonly served with?

  • Chips
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Bell peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Crackers (wheat, veggie)
  • Tortilla chips
  • Pretzels
  • Pita bread

How to make easy Baguette and pita chips:

For this fall hummus flight, we loved baguettes and pita chips, and decided to make them on our own. And you can too, it is so easy. Simply preheat oven to 350. Cut baguette and pita bread into bite sized pieces. Place on baking sheet and top with salt, pepper, and spray with cooking spray or olive oil. Place in oven and cook for 8-10 minutes.

Then enjoy!

Friendsgiving

I love a good appetizer, and plan to serve this hummus appetizer at our annual Friendsgiving as a filling, seasonal, and tasty way to tied everyone over until we get to the feast.

Friendsgiving is all about bringing people together!

And what is a better way to do that than great food with people you love?

Gather your friends to celebrate everything that’s awesome in life: Good friends, good food, and good times shared around the table.

While Thanksgiving tends to be more structured and traditional, Friendsgiving is more relaxed, and gives you the opportunity to mix things up, incorporate your own flair, and accommodate the personal tastes of your guests.

In other words, Make it yours. Just like hummus.

I loved taking this Classic Hummus and adding my own spin. Thank you Sabra!

This year, Sabra is here to help you bring your friends together over this new tradition — with flavor and fun, for everyone on your guest list.  So add this fun hummus flight to your menu, and add your own favorite mix-ins and toppers to make it yours!

What will you add to your appetizer?

Celebrating with great food

I am a foodie at heart, so you don’t have to convince me that food plays a pivotal role in making or breaking a celebration. But one thing I love is how food can enhance and highlight your theme. For example, I want everyone to feel included and apart of our Friendsgiving gathering. So creating a flight of different hummus flavors that include the preferences of all my guests is a great way to do that.

Here are a few more fun ideas for ways to change up your hummus and make it yours for your Friendsgiving for All:

  • Add roasted butternut squash and herbs.
  • Add sautéed apples and brown sugar for a sweet treat.
  • Flambé some pears and add a little salty gorgonzola.

The possibilities are endless!
