Italian Baked Pork Chops:

Breaded Baked Pork Chops are tender, juicy, flavorful, home cooked goodness that can be quickly and easily made.

With minimal prep and effort, prepare and throw pork chops in the oven. Italian oven baked pork chops are for nights when time is not on your side and you want a hearty dish that can be done with little effort.

Serve with this tasty cornbread and green bean casserole for a homestyle meal the whole family will love.

Italian Baked Pork Chops are the best oven baked pork chops and they will definitely  leave you wanting more. This baked pork chop recipe is pleasing to the chef because not only is very little preparation required, the finished product produces a great depth of flavor that is wrapped in a tender, juicy pork chop, making this meal enjoyable and quite the comfort food.  Make pork chops on a night when you don’t have the time to sit and wait for hours for a meal to cook.

Another couple of pork chop recipe options are my Pina Colada Pork Chops and also my Savory Apple Stuffed Pork Chops !

Are Baked Pork Chops Good For You?

I really have been on a pork chop kick lately.  Sometimes you want a leaner meat option and no offense to chicken, but sometimes chicken can become boring.   Enter baked or oven roasted pork chops as a great option.

Are pork chops good for you?  In my opinion baked pork chops are a lot healthier than eating red meat.  I also love how they are a protein dense food that keeps you full longer.

Pork chops have great nutritional benefits like containing B12 and zinc.    Plus, baked pork chops are a healthier way to eat pork than a lot of the other methods of preparation.

So, are pork chops good for you?  It’s never a simple yes or no answer is it?  They are better than most meat options. Therefore, I think they are a great meat to add to your dinner rotation.  Make baked pork chops leaner and even more diet friendly by trimming off excess fat.

As with any meat and with most foods, it’s good to practice moderation, but oven baked pork chops are definitely a better meat choice than some of the options out there.

How Long Does It Take To Cook Pork Chops In The Oven?

Another reason I am on a pork chop kick is because they don’t take long to cook.  I hate coming home with starving children and still having an hour plus before dinner will be ready.  Oven baked pork chops cook fast!

Depending on the thickness of the pork chop, how long it takes to bake pork chops can be quite fast.  Oven baked pork chops can be cooked as quickly as 7 minutes!! That’s crazy to think.

A good rule of thumb is to plan for about 7 minutes of cooking for every half inch of meat.  I personally like a thicker cut of pork chops, like two inches of thickness. However, still a pork chop being cooked in about 30 minutes, that’s not bad.

These time frames are based off of cooking your pork chops at 400-425 degrees.

How long does it take to cook pork chops in the oven at 350 degrees?  The lower the temperature the longer it will take. Depending on the thickness of the cut it can be more like 40-45 minutes to cook.

If you want to be sure your pork chop is cooked thoroughly then I recommend using a good thermometer to test the internal temperature, making sure it has reached at least 145 degrees.

Note:  Pork chops still on the bone take a few minutes longer to cook.

Do You Have To Cover Pork Chops In The Oven?

I highly recommend covering your pork chops when you cook them in the oven.  Baked pork chops aren’t hard to prepare, but you can turn a potentially juicy pork chop into a dry tough cut of meat if you aren’t careful.

Covering your pork chops in the oven with foil and not over cooking them will help produce a more tender meat.

When your pork chops are finished baking, you will need a good skillet to get the flavor and breadcrumbs to really stick and coat the meat.
