Creamy Cool Whip and pudding, luscious, golden OREO cookies, fresh lime zest, and a cheesecake like layer. This Lime Dreamboat Dessert is a creamy, flavorful, delicious dessert the whole family will love. Perfect for a Ghostbusters movie watching night!
Ok, let’s talk about this Lime Dreamboat Dessert for a second. It is one of those desserts that I grew up eating. My grandmother would make it for us. It came in several variations, depending on the type of pudding we chose. I loved going to her house and walking into her huge cold storage room, picking out my pudding flavor, and watching her whip this dessert up. I loved licking the bowls and the beaters and coming up with topping ideas.
And I still love coming up with variations on this recipe. And today, I am sharing a fun lime version because I am making it for a family movie night.
Family Night
The new Ghostbusters Blu-Ray just came out. It is NOW AVAILABLE on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD. And you can get the extended edition with over 15 more minutes not seen in theaters plus over 3 hours of hilarious extras. Because Halloween is just around the corner, we have been watching Halloween themed movies for family movie night. This week it is Ghostbusters.
Ghostbusters is a throw back to when I was younger, and I won’t lie, I was pretty excited when I saw they were coming out with a new one. I am super excited to share it with my kids. In honor of my love of my childhood, I am making this throwback dessert, a dreamboat, but with a fun Ghostbusters twist. This lime dreamboat is green (for Slimer) and has plenty of Marshmallows for the Stay Puff Marshmallow man (Rowan). I know my kids are going to love eating it as part of our family movie night.
Halloween Shopping
You guys, life has been busy lately. We have been traveling, and I have been working a ton. I didn’t even realize how soon Halloween was until we were sitting in a hotel room and my kids reminded me they had no Halloween costumes. I was so glad I have a phone plan with tons of data because we spent the next several hours browsing the internet for costume ideas, and ordering the chosen costumes to be delivered, hopefully before Halloween.
Lately I have barely had time to do anything, so a little time with family is huge. We have been trying to do movie-nights more often, and always try and do a themed food or fun meal to go with them. I love using the free movie rental on VUDU I get each month with my Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan. For some reason that extra perk means we put a little thought and planning into a family movie night. Taking time to enjoy something as a family despite our busy schedules has been really great for us. And choosing a Halloween themed movie each time has been a blast.
Speaking of Halloween, this year my oldest, who is almost 12, is going to be trick-or-treating without me. Big steps happening over here.
Big Steps
I am so glad he has a phone so I can feel confident that I can reach him while he is out with his friends. As much as I try to foster independence, I still need to be able to check on him. I just picked up an LG K7 – $49.88 (Rollback from $89.88), and the Nano starter kit, which is on rollback for $19.88 (from $25). You guys already know I love Walmart Family Mobile, but the starter kit price being on rollback makes me love them even more, because it means anyone can start service on ANY plan today for $19.88!
We went with the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS = Unlimited Talk, Text, Data; 10GB 4G LTE plus a free movie (rental, new release = $7 value) on VUDU every month, per line for $49.88. I love the data, and my family loves the movies, and my son loves having a phone!
There are a ton of different phone options including: Samsung Galaxy On5- $119.00, LG Stylo 2 Plus- $199.00, and the LG K7 – $49.88 (Rollback from $89.88)

Judith Bowman says
Just in time for holidays. Thanks.
Confused says
1 pkg. {8 oz} Lime jello – Confused on this ingredient quantity. Is it 8 ounces of instant jello or is it what the package is suppose to make into. For the quantity of the milk my guess is it maybe should be 3 ounce package? Or is it the larger 6 ounce package? Let me know. Looks like a fun dessert for kids.
Rachael says
It is the 6-8 ounce package of jello mix, not the already made Jello. Thank you for helping me clear things up.
Mary says
On the cookie do you take out the filling or do you use it ?
Rachael says
I use it! It helps it hold together as a crust.
JANIE says
CAN U USE VANILLA WAFES IN STEAD OF OREAS
Rachael says
yes, but you may need some extra butter to get it to stick together since you won’t have the oreo cream.

recipe looks good, but hate and won’t wade through all the Walmart ads.
