No sugar added fruit roll ups! Perfect for after-game snacking and part of the ultimate sideline kit!

I am officially a soccer mom! I guess truth be told I have been one for a while, orange slices, grass stains, mini-vans and all. Fully immersed. I live the soccer mom life! From rudimentary coaching to lots of sideline cheering, I spend my Saturdays mini-vanning it up with lawn chair, sun umbrella, and cooler in hand.

POWERADE SOCCER

Part of the soccer mom life is bringing snacks to the game. For my 6-year old’s magnet ball team, those drinks and snacks are the highlight of the game. Truth be told, they can be the highlight for me too. Especially after a rough game.

soccer

We have had a fun year. But my son’s team has only won one game! And it was a game he missed. My daughter’s team on the other hand has won all their games, but one, which they tied.

It is hard not to get emotionally invested in their wins and losses, and not to really celebrate or commiserate with them. But as the parent, I figure I can cheer, and shout, and feel everything I want, but when the kids get to the sidelines I should probably be the rock. The steady, not super emotional one that can help them learn the rules, practice good sportsmanship, and recognize that losses are learning opportunities, and so are wins.

It is a hard job.

But one thing that always makes it easier is being well prepared with the Ultimate Sideline Kit!

Game Day Kits 3

As a mom with years of experience sitting the sidelines, I know that in order to get through an entire day/season of soccer (several seasons actually as there is usually both indoor and out), I have to come prepared to be the sideline hero.

The week it was my turn for the after game treat, I came prepared with the ultimate sideline kit to share with all the players. For me the ultimate sideline kit requires a few things:

  1. The perfect hydration combo: Water and POWERADE®
  2. A personalized water bottle
  3. Fresh Fruits
  4. Sun screen
  5. A “treat”

I love that I can head to Walmart and pick up a 12 pack of 12 ounce POWERADE®, enough for the whole team, and fresh produce.Game Day Kits 2

I am a little bit of a germ-a-phobe. One thing I can’t tolerate is sharing drinks. Even with my husband I hate sharing drinks. It grosses me out. If my kid drinks out of my bottle, it is theirs. I certainly didn’t want my kids swapping spit with their whole team by mixing up water bottles and drinks at half time, and after the game, so I decided to use my vinyl cutter to cut out team names to personalize water bottles, and I filled the bottles with fresh fruit.

Powerade fruit bottle

The kids need a snack, and by putting the fruit in the bottle, it won’t get smashed. The kids get something without processed sugar to fuel up on, along with a tasty POWERADE, and after the game they can take their bottles home and use them all season long. In addition, there is the matter of sunscreen.

Soccer games are fun, but often mean spending hours outdoors and in the sunshine. Clipping on a little bottle of sunscreen to the water bottle helps protect my kids and their teammates from burns.

Lastly I wanted to include a treat, but not something full of processed sugars, so I made fruit leather without any added sugar. Recipe below.

The POWERADE keeps them hydrated, the Walmart fresh produce keeps them fueled, the fruit leather curbs their sweet tooth, and the sunscreen gives them added protection.

Powerade HERO

But I didn’t stop there, if it is going to be the “ultimate” sideline kit, it has to account for the other people on the sidelines! Parents and coaches! After all, I am at every game, and sometimes the yelling, screaming, and cheering, really make me work up a sweat. And I am not the only one. So a cooler full of extra POWERADE, and some extra sunscreen, fruit, and fruit leather were a must to keep everyone happy and make me the sideline hero!

Powerade

That’s a win even if the game wasn’t.

Be sure to look for the coupon on the 12-pack 12 oz POWERADE® packages and you can get $1 off Walmart fresh produce when you buy two 12-pack 12 oz POWERADE®. Hurry this deal is only available while supplies lasts! And check out the POWERADE social media channels:

I’m a soccer mom too. 😉 My son is 12 and now plays for a club team, so I hear you on win and loses. Also soccer is all about the snacks. The kids look forward toward. Now my son doesn’t get snacks anymore and he always misses them. This fruit leather looks yummy. I love homemade fruit leather too. 😉

Haha, those club teams are brutal, so much time commitment. I am glad my younger kids are still happy to play rec. I can barely keep up!

Wow! You really are the sideline hero! What a great idea to put the fruit in the bottle, and I especially love that you included sunscreen! My daughter was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma at just 19!! Fortunately, we caught it early and she is cancer free. It always makes me happy when I see folks protecting themselves from the sun!

How scary. It seems like every year I forget at the first outdoor game and we all pay! So this year I am trying to be on top of things a little better.

I love the homemade fruit leather idea. I’m not a fan of any packaged beverage, though. Powerade’s second ingredient is high fructose corn syrup! No thanks. I’ll bring Fruit2O to games, because it’s different for the players other than plain water. It still has sucralose as a sweetener. The grapes in the water bottles are a great idea. Thanks for the suggestions!
