Protein Trail Mix

This easy to make, good-for-you Protein Bar Trail Mix will help you get through the indulgent snacking season unscathed, and feeling great! There is just something awesome about a homemade trail mix, where you get to decide what kind of nuts, how many raisins, etc, and this one includes chunks of protein bars (I used V8 bars to make this, but they are no longer available, so use any protein bar of choice) for an extra boost. v8 protein bar trail mix #easy

Protein Trail Mix Add-In Ideas

I loaded this trail mix up with nuts and dried fruit for even more protein and fiber, and some chocolate to make it fun! And then I cut up pieces of  my favorite Protein Bars and mixed them in. This adds great flavor, and extra benefits in a super convenient way.

Here’s a list of fun mix-ins to enhance your protein-rich trail mix:

  1. Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, cashews, or pecans.
  2. Seeds: Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or chia seeds.
  3. Dried Fruit: Cranberries, raisins, apricots, or mango.
  4. Chocolate: Dark chocolate chips or chunks.
  5. Cereal: Whole grain or bran flakes.
  6. Pretzels: Mini pretzel twists or sticks.
  7. Coconut Flakes: Unsweetened for a tropical twist.
  8. Protein Crisps: Crunchy, protein-packed crisps.
  9. Popcorn: Air-popped for a light, crunchy addition.
  10. Granola: High-protein granola clusters.
  11. Spices: Cinnamon, nutmeg, or cocoa powder for added flavor.
  12. Dried Meat: Beef jerky or turkey jerky, chopped into small pieces.
  13. Edamame: Roasted and salted edamame for a savory kick.
  14. Cheese Crisps: Crunchy cheese snacks, broken into pieces.
  15. Quinoa Puffs: Airy and crunchy, adding a boost of protein.
  16. Protein Balls: Homemade or store-bought protein balls, chopped.
  17. Yogurt Chips: Freeze-dried yogurt chips for a creamy texture.
  18. Honey Roasted Chickpeas: Sweet and crunchy, packed with protein.
  19. Nut Butter: Drizzle or dollop of your favorite nut butter for added richness.
  20. Trail Mix or Granola Bar Clusters: Clumped together with a sweet or savory binder for easy snacking.

Mix and match these ingredients to create your perfect protein-rich trail mix!

v8 protein barsI gladly took my bag full of trail mix with me to snack on while I ran errands and did some holiday shopping. And avoided giving in to the salty, greasy fries that were calling my name!
