What You Need to Make Valentine’s Day Chex Mix
Making this Valentine Snack Mix is eazy peazy. The best part is shopping for all the fun heart shaped treats to mix into it. I mostly shopped the aisles of Target and Walmart, but feel free to customize, adjust, and change up as needed based on what you find. For example, heart shaped pretzels, or X and O animal crackers would have been super fun in here.
I was going for a snack mix for everyone, a chex mix base that hit the sweet, sour, salty, crunchy, tangy, combo, so every bite is something fun. Here is what I used to achieve that:
- Chex Cereal (I used the rice variety, but use any kind)
- White Chocolate
- Powdered Sugar
- Valentine’s M&M’s Mix (Cupid mix)
- Dove Milk Chocolate Hearts
- Trolli Sour Heart Gummies
- Jolly Rancher Jelly Hearts
- Yogurt Covered Pretzels
- Cinnamon Lips (Hot Lips, Cinnamon Gummy Candy)
- Sweetart Conversation Hearts

How to Make Valentines Snack Mix
This is one of those super easy, just dump everything together and mix type recipes, which I love, and it is very, very customizable. Here is what you need to do:
Step One: Make Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies
You can buy already made Muddy Buddies if you want, or you can just use the Chex cereal in the mix and skip the muddy buddy part. These aren’t try Muddy Buddies, because I did not use peanut butter, but rather a chocolate coated and dusted with powdered sugar Chex snack. But here is how I made it:
- Take 4 cups Chex Cereal and put in a zip top bag.
- Take 12 ounces white chocolate, and melt in the microwave on 50% power, in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until chocolate is fully melted.
- Pour melted white chocolate over the Chex cereal, and stir it up so each piece is coated.
- Add 1/2 cup of powdered sugar to the bag, and shake to coat.
- Pour into a large bowl.

Step Two: Add All of your Various Treats To the Bowl
Then you simply add the other treats to your bowl. In any order
- Valentine’s M&M’s Mix (Cupid mix)
- Dove Milk Chocolate Hearts
- Trolli Sour Heart Gummies
- Jolly Rancher Jelly Hearts
- Yogurt Covered Pretzels
- Cinnamon Lips (Hot Lips, Cinnamon Gummy Candy)
- Sweetart Conversation Hearts

Step Three: Stir it All Together
Now you just want to stir it all together. I used a very large bowl, and it still wasn’t quite big enough because I made a lot of this delicious snack mix in order to share it with a crowd. By transferring it to the larger bowl, I was able to mix it up pretty well without breaking any of the Chex pieces or pretzels.

Tips and Tricks
Making this recipe is Eazy Peazy. But here are some tips to make this snack mix the best ever.
- Customize to Preferences: If you don’t like a treat on its own, you won’t like it in the snack mix. So swap things out for your preference. For example, you can use Jelly Belly Sour Pucker Lips instead of Cinnamon Lips if you don’t like cinnamon candy.
- Stick to the Theme: I love browsing the aisles at Valentine’s Day to see what candies and treats they have. They usually offer lots of fun themed, shaped, and cute candies. So stick to the red, pink, white color scheme, heart shapes, etc. and you can mix the snack mix up to your liking.
- Use A BIG Bowl: You can cut this recipe down, but I found a large bowl of snack mix for Valentine’s day was so fun. Make sure you use a rather large mixing bowl, so as not to spill over the sides.
- Share. Sharing is caring, and Valentine’s Day is all about showing the love, so share your snack mix with family and friends to get even more into the Valentine’s Day spirit.

Make Ahead and Storage
This recipe can easily be made ahead and stored for later use. Just store in an airtight container so nothing goes stale. I recommend eating it within a week!
