Air Fryer French Fries

Air Fryer French Fries:  Homemade French fries cooked perfectly each and every time.

These easy to make French fries offer the perfect crisp and taste without frying French fries in gobs of oil or settling for boring baked French Fries.

Air Fryer French Fries are the answer when you want mouth watering, crave worthy fries without all the excessive oil and fat.

We love the air fryer for everything from chicken wings to sweet potato fries and even Air Fryer Egg Cups.

Air Fryer French Fries can be cooked and prepped in no time at all.

With the use of this user friendly air fryer and following the steps of this simple recipe, you can have healthier restaurant quality French fries right in your home in no time at all.

Air Fryer French Fries have become a new obsession in our household.

I’m a sucker for fried food, but I don’t like that in the past fried food equaled tons of oil and fat.

With the air fryer, I don’t even have to use oil, making me feel less guilty when I am craving some crispy, delicious, homemade fries.

Is Using An Air Fryer Healthy?

Growing in popularity, the air fryer is a healthier way to cook traditionally unhealthy foods.  It is a healthier frying option for all your fried food favorites.

Instead of using gobs of oil and I mean gobs and gobs are used with a traditional fryer, with an air fryer hot air circulates around the food, and evaporates surface moisture resulting in little or no oil needed for the same crispy texture.

Just imagine all your fried food favorites being made with so much less oil, or even NO OIL at all.  Mind boggling, I know.

In addition to Air Fryer French Fries, I have made Air Fryer Wings, Coconut Shrimp, Roasted Cauliflower, the list goes on and on.  The possibilities are really endless with the air fryer.

It is a new favorite in our household and I strongly encourage you get one immediately.  Like you should probably just get one today because guess what, this genius invention knows no limits.  I use a Gourmia Air Fryer.

Are Air Fried French Fries Healthy?

Life changing is the words that come to mind when I think about this Air Fryer French Fries recipe.

First off let’s address the obvious, already mentioned issue of excessive amounts of oil used when frying food without an air fryer.   It’s a very unhealthy frying process.

However, with the air fryer little or no oil is used.  This is a huge health benefit.

3 Reasons Less Oil Or No Oil Is So Good For You:

  • Less oil equals less calories
  •   Less oil means less fat
  •   Too much oil can potentially increase chances of heart disease

So, Air Fryer French Fries is a healthier French fry, yet still just as delicious.

How Do You Cook Fries In An Air Fryer?

So how do you cook fries in an air fryer?  Well just let me tell you, very easily. This cooking method isn’t only healthier, it is also really easy and quick to do.  See I told you life changing.

The sweet spot in regards to temperature for cooking homemade fries in the air fryer is anywhere from a temperature of 360-400 degrees.

Steps for Cooking Fries In The Air Fryer:

  •   Preheat air fryer for a few minutes.
  • Cut potatoes about 1/2 inch in thickness and make sure all pieces are similar in size for a more even cook.
  • Toss with a little bit of oil (optional) and desired seasonings.
  • Place fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd.
  • Cook at desired temp and toss half way in between cooking time to help ensure the most even cook.
  •   Once time is up, test one of the fries in the center and add more time if needed.

Why Cooking Times May Vary:

A Larger Batch Will Increase Cooking Times.

As you use your air fryer more and more, you may notice that not every batch takes quite the same amount of time to cook.  When you have a larger batch of fries for example, the air won’t be able to circulate as much, resulting in more time needed to cook.

With smaller batches there is more air circulation, which makes the food cook faster.

The Thickness of Fries Affects Cooking Times.

Thicker and bigger pieces of fries will take longer to cook, which may affect cook times.

Tip:  Remember though, whether you choose to have larger fries, like a steak fry or smaller fries, cut your fries to be similar in size.  Different sizes can affect how evenly cooked your fries are.

How Do You Cook Frozen Fries In An Air Fryer?

Great news, cooking frozen fries in the air fryer is even easier because no cutting is required.  Just arrange the fries in a single layer, like already mentioned and cook.

Toss fries half way through and test them when they are done.  Easy Peasy.

Tip:  I recommend cooking frozen fries in the air fryer at a temp of 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

So whether you want to make homemade fries or skip the cutting and use frozen fries, either is a great option for air fryer French fries.

Serving Suggestions:

These Air Fryer French Fries make for a great snack or side to so many dishes.

Make these easy homemade fries and serve them with mouth watering good Sheet Pan Philly Cheesesteak or these Philly Cheesesteak Sliders.  Just make sure to start the cheesesteak about 10 minutes before the fries, so everything will be ready at about the same time.

Then follow this crowd pleasing meal with a decadent dessert like Chocolate Cake (Classic).  You will be pleased from the beginning to the end of this meal.
