Football season is pretty revered around here. For my boys it is all about the game. For me, it is all about the food. My girls, it is the cheerleading, and the atmosphere. But we all know the most important part of football is the food. Obviously.
And with a dip like this Jalapeno Popper Cheese Dip…can you blame me? I mean the food is EVERYTHING. And this is insane. It is cheese, bacon, and jalapenos, and it stays nice and creamy, no matter how long it sits. I love it with soft pretzels.
This Jalapeno Popper Cheese Dip is baked, has bacon, and is seriously yummy. This cheese dip is the bomb! I highly recommend you make it, and eat it. But you have to make the soft pretzels too. They are crisp on the outside, and pillowy soft on the inside. Buttery and delicious. They make me happy, no matter what day it is. I use them to dig into this baked bacon cheddar jalapeno popper cheese dip!

Tips for Cooking Perfect Bacon
Cooking bacon can be an art form, and with a few tips, you can achieve perfectly crispy, delicious bacon every time. Here are some tips to help you cook bacon to perfection:
1. Choose the Right Cut
- Thick-Cut vs. Regular: Thick-cut bacon takes longer to cook and results in a chewier texture, while regular-cut bacon cooks faster and becomes crispier.
- Look for Quality: Choose bacon with a good balance of meat and fat, preferably from a trusted butcher or high-quality brand.
2. Cooking Methods
- Stovetop: Use a large, flat skillet or cast-iron pan for even cooking. Start with a cold pan to help render the fat gradually.
- Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. Lay the bacon strips on the rack and bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on thickness, for evenly cooked bacon without the mess.
- Microwave: Lay bacon strips between layers of paper towels on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave on high for 4-6 minutes, checking every 30 seconds after 4 minutes to avoid burning.
- Grill: For a smoky flavor, cook bacon on a grill over medium heat. Use a grill pan or lay the strips perpendicular to the grill grates to prevent them from falling through.
3. Temperature Control
- Medium Heat: Cook bacon over medium heat to allow the fat to render properly and prevent burning.
- Avoid High Heat: High heat can cause the bacon to cook too quickly on the outside while remaining undercooked on the inside.
4. Turn Occasionally
- Turn the bacon strips occasionally to ensure even cooking. Use tongs to flip them gently to avoid breaking the strips.
5. Remove Excess Grease
- Drain Fat: Periodically drain excess fat from the pan into a heatproof container to prevent the bacon from becoming too greasy.
- Pat Dry: After cooking, place the bacon strips on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any remaining grease.
6. Cook to Desired Crispiness
- Watch Closely: Keep an eye on the bacon as it cooks, especially toward the end, to ensure it reaches your desired level of crispiness without burning.
7. Flavor Enhancements
- Pepper Bacon: Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper on the bacon strips before cooking for an extra kick.
- Candied Bacon: Brush the bacon with a mixture of brown sugar and a touch of maple syrup or honey before cooking for a sweet, caramelized flavor.
