The recipe listed below is for hamburgers, but I forgot to take the pictures, so I did it again on sloppy joes since I had some in my freezer. I used this recipe. It is a good one. But the idea is the same. You take a piece of cheese, cut out a face, and melt it. So fun! Again, my kids loved this Halloween inspired food activity, and it made for some great participation in the family dinner!
Halloween: Cheeseburger Jack O' Lantern
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 small onions finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 egg
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Mix beef, onion, pepper, and egg together
- Form into patties
- Cook on a grill
- Cut a Jack O' Lantern face out of cheddar cheese
- Top cooked burger patty with cheddar cheese
- Serve open faced

Then put it on your patty, or your sloppy joe, or whatever, and melt it.
For this particular Halloween activity, I gave my kids plastic knives to cut out the faces. They had a bit of a hard time. A toothpick might work better.
